Our Story: Turning Pages into Adventures
Hi! I’m Gary!
I may be little, but I've got a big red backpack and an even bigger sense of adventure.
I was born in Bolivia, and ever since I packed my backpack, I've been exploring amazing places all around the world. I've wandered through colorful cities, hiked mountains, visited castles, splashed at beaches, and met wonderful people from all kinds of cultures.
Do you know what I've learned?
The world is a pretty amazing place.
The best adventures aren't about going the farthest—they're about saying hello, trying something new, making new friends, and discovering that kindness can be found almost everywhere you go.
That's why I started sending Postcards from Gary!
Each story is inspired by my real-life travels and is filled with curiosity, courage, friendship, and the joy of discovering our big, beautiful world. My very first adventure, A Little Llama's First Big Adventure, follows me as I leave home for the very first time and learn that even when something feels scary, there are kind people who can help you find your courage.
Whether you're reading before bedtime, planning your own family adventure, or dreaming about places you'd love to visit someday, I'm so happy you're here.

A Note from Kristi
Hi! I'm Kristi, Gary's travel buddy, storyteller, social media manager, and the human behind Postcards from Gary.
What started as bringing a little stuffed llama to the Bolivian Salt Flats with a group of friends quickly turned into something much bigger. Before long, he had a name, an Instagram account, and a bright red backpack—and soon, Gary was traveling the world with me.
Everywhere we went, Gary made people smile. Strangers wanted to take photos with him, hear his story, and become part of his adventures. Watching those simple moments unfold reminded me that curiosity, kindness, and a little bit of silliness have a wonderful way of bringing people together.
That's what inspired Postcards from Gary.
I created this series to help children see the world as an exciting place filled with fascinating cultures, new experiences, and kind people. My hope is that Gary inspires little adventurers to ask questions, embrace differences, and grow up with open hearts, curious minds, and the confidence to explore.
