🇪🇸 Gary’s Camino Adventure: 115 km of Friends, Footsteps, and Tiny Breaks
It’s me, Gary 🦙, and I just returned from a BIG walking adventure in Spain.
My little llama legs are very tired, and I was very grateful when my chief adventure planner kindly offered me a ride in her backpack along the way. Even adventurers need a lift sometimes.
This time, I hiked the Camino de Santiago (Camino Francés) for 6 days and walked 115 kilometers across northern Spain. That is a lot of steps for a small llama like me.
Make it stand out
Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
🌿 The Journey
The Camino took me through quiet forests, golden fields that seemed to go on forever, and tiny stone villages where time felt like it was moving a little slower.
Every day brought something new. A bell tower in the distance. A winding path through the trees. A group of friendly travelers sharing snacks and stories on the roadside.
I met people from all over the world, all walking for their own reasons, but somehow sharing the same path. It felt like everyone was part of one big moving story.
Sometimes I walked. Sometimes I paused for what I like to call a “very important llama thinking break” (some people call it resting). And sometimes I rode along in a backpack, which is a very efficient way to appreciate the scenery.
🥾 What the Camino Taught Me
Somewhere between the first step and the 115th kilometer, I realized something simple.
The Camino is not about rushing.
It is about slowing down.
Step by step. Breath by breath. Moment by moment.
Just being where you are, while you are there.
🧭 Fun Adventure Facts
🇪🇸 Spain
Spain is a country in Europe known for sunshine, music, and delicious foods like tapas.
It has an incredible mix of landscapes, from mountains to beaches to rolling countryside.
🌿 Galicia (where my Camino ended)
Galicia is in the northwest corner of Spain.
It is known for misty green hills, dramatic ocean cliffs, and a magical kind of rainy weather.
People there speak Spanish and also Galician, a regional language with Celtic roots.
🥾 The Camino de Santiago (Camino Francés)
This ancient walking route has been traveled for over 1,000 years.
The Camino Francés is the most popular path.
It begins in France and stretches across northern Spain to Santiago de Compostela.
Today, people walk it for adventure, reflection, connection, and discovery.
Thank you for following along on this journey from afar. It always feels a little more special knowing there are friends out there walking alongside me in spirit.
More stories, postcards, and possibly snacks coming soon.
With dusty paws and a very full heart,
❤️ Gary
